I started my professional life as a Security Officer in 1989 and then quickly promoted (within) to plain-clothes) Store Detective where I excelled at catching shoplifters. From there I worked as an SD for the next several years in a variety of retail stores and was stabbed in the line of duty. The person who stabbed me subsequently got 5 years for GBH with intent.



I also did several stints as a undercover investigator where I infiltrated companies as a member of staff. One of these was at a prominent duty free store at Heathrow airport where I worked undercover for 3 months. At the end of which and a direct result of my investigation, 12 out of a merchandising team of 14 were subsequently dismissed for theft.



In 1997 I joined the international Alliance of Guardian Angels and was “badged” by them on the 8th July 1997. This was voluntary work in addition to my normal paid job.



In 1999 I became the Security Manager at WH Smith – Victoria where my team averaged 100 arrests per month. My own personal best was detaining 11 shoplifters in one day.



I eventually left there and joined National Car Parks as a Company Investigator where I investigated internal theft and fraud resulting in closing down a credit card cloning operation worth in excess of a 1/3 million pounds.



From there I went on to become the Loss Prevention Manager at House of Fraser – Oxford Street (HoF’s Flagship Store) and then was headhunted by Game Stores Group and became their senior Loss Prevention Investigator.



I then went on to The John David Group (JD Sports) as a Regional Loss Control Manager where the highlight was interviewing 10 members of staff in one day and gaining 7 admissions of theft and drug dealing in one of their stores in the south east of London. This included the Store Manager who admitted to taking drugs while on duty.

In April 2006, I started Salgado Investigations and have never looked back.
